Purpose of the role

An opportunity has arisen within the Global Accounting and Compliance team for a technically strong, driven and ambitious qualified accountant to join the finance function.

The individual will be responsible for all financial accounting for its assigned areas including:

• Perform the month end close process for your designated areas
• Ensuring compliance with internal controls/procedures, SOX and external auditors
• Process improvements - driving for efficiencies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supports month-end close process by preparing and analyzing schedules, reports and posting journal entries and understanding the impact to the overall financial statements.
• Analyzes trends and explains actual variances to prior periods and forecasts including researching and providing appropriate support.
• Partner with outside functional business units to drive analysis around key P&L trends and drive process improvements.
• Reconciles and reviews balance sheet accounts including identification, resolution, and communication of reconciling items as necessary.
• Play an integral role in improving the efficiency of business processes within Accounting & Compliance including making and implementing these process improvements.

Where applicable:

• Involvement in acquisition or disposal activity from an Accounting & Compliance point of view including accounting, controls and governance requirements as applicable to your areas of responsibility.
• Involvement for ensuring the smooth integration of acquired businesses into the global systems and control framework for your areas of responsibility.
• Involvement within wider finance projects in relation to system changes or upgrades.

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 4-year degree (Finance, Accounting) or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 2+ years' experience
• Strong financial technical skills working with large ERM programs (Oracle, PeopleSoft, Hyperion)
• Understands basic finance and accounting principles, including P&Ls, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements
• Awareness of internal controls and compliance requirements
• Strong Excel skills
• Proven experience of working in a commercially focused finance team, preferably in a fast paced, multi-site, large company
• A high degree of commercial acumen is essential, together with the ability to think through the numbers and effectively communicate the interpretation of key issues in a clear, concise manner
• A rigorous mind-set and the ability to deliver timely and insightful information
• Team player
• Ability to work well under pressure and looking for new challenges
• Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building capabilities with the ability to quickly form working relationships and gain credibility with others.
