Mary Marshall (Assisted Living) is looking for 1-part timeLife Enrichment Assistant to join our team in Arlington, VA! This Life Enrichment Assistant will coordinate social, recreational, purposeful and spiritual activities to residents, whose needs include psychological, physical, and cognitive challenges.

The Life Enrichment Assistant will report to the Life Enrichment Director.

The Life Enrichment Assistant will work on-site in the Mary Marshall Assisted Living Community.

Mary Marshall works in partnership with Arlington County Department of Health and Human Services, offering assisted living personal care and services for adults aged 55 and older with cognitive disabilities and special needs who also qualify as low income individuals.

Hours:

Wednesday: 9am-3pm

Friday: 9am-5pm

Saturday: 9am-5pm

Sunday: 9am-5pm

*One Weekend off a month, in which you would work during the week.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform defined work routines and daily assignments, using various department supplies and equipment, as assigned by the Therapeutic Director.
2. Assist with social activities and recreational programs that provide spiritual, physical, social, and intellectual challenges for facility residents.
a. Research and design resident activity programs for Director's approval; implement approved programs that maintain viable interest and expand resident participation.
b. Initiate various assigned individual and/or group activities; provide materials, instructions and supervision during activities; record attendance.
c. Evaluate residents' reactions during activities, document attendance, and report unusual observations to nurse in charge.
d. Assist with planning and scheduling trips and outside activities; arrange for transportation and resident supervision.
e. Assist with planning and participation of residents in religious activities as assigned by the Activity Director.
f. Perform other department duties or special assignments as directed by the Activity Director.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school graduate or equivalent education is preferred. Preference given to persons who have completed courses in therapeutic recreation.
2. Minimum one year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
3. If operating company vehicle you must be 21 years of age and meet the MVR organization standards.
4. Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions; to prepare written reports and documentation.
5. Ability to work with residents of varying levels of responsiveness.
6. Motor coordination and manual dexterity required in working with craft projects and other resident activities.
7. Able and willing to work flexible hours, such as during evenings and weekends for planned activities events.
8. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
