The Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide overnight coverage for 15-20 Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) patients as well as admissions from the ICU or ED, hospital transfer consults, and triaging outpatient calls. Cardiac Surgery fellows and the CVSICU intensivists will be available for support. The CVPCU is a 32-bed adult inpatient surgical unit. The unit offers 3 levels of care: floor, telemetry, and intermediate levels of care. Cardiac surgery patients: coronary artery bypass, Heartmate© & Heartware© mechanical circulatory support devices, valve replacement or repairs, Type A & B aortic dissections, TAVR, heart or lung transplantation.

Shifts: Full time (40 hours/week) 12-hour night shift; some weekends and holidays (permanent night incentive rate)

Qualifications:

  • MSN/DNP from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Active Maryland RN license and certification as an Adult Acute Care NP
  • BLS Health Care Provider CPR certification required: AHA or Red Cross accepted
  • Requires 3 years of related nursing work experience
  • 1 year or greater Cardiac NP work experience highly preferred
  • Active Maryland CDS license and Federal DEA
  • Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required

***You will function in a Nurse Practitioner Associate role until credentialed by The Johns Hopkins Hospital medical board and staff privileges are granted.
