Position Summary: JCCC is looking for applicants for a part-time astronomy position in the Astronomy Department. The ideal candidate would be expected to instruct students in lecture and/or lab for either Fundamentals of Astronomy or Astronomy. The ideal candidate would need to be able to teach face-to-face and online starting in Spring 2022. Teaching assignments could be any combination of face-to-face, online or using teleconference software like Zoom. All applications must be be submitted to the JCCC jobs portal.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Astronomy or Physics
• Computer literacy including ability to communicate and develop teaching materials and enter grades electronically
• Demonstrate familiarity with the use of appropriate computer software
• Demonstrate fluency in written and oral communications
• Demonstrate familiarity with the use and care of telescopes and related equipment
• One year of college-level teaching experience in astronomy or physics

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's or Doctorate degree in Astronomy or Physics
• Community college teaching experience in astronomy or physics
