English / Composition Adjunct Faculty - Division of Liberal Arts and Sciences - Fall Semester 2022 (Late Start Courses)

Please note: Applications are now being accepted for in-person fall teaching positions with courses meeting one or more days a week. We are not currently accepting applications for English / Composition faculty for either online instruction, nor virtual instruction, courses at this time. Please submit an application only if you have interest and availability to teach in person at either our Sugar Grove, IL or Aurora, IL campuses in the Fall 2022 term. Thank you.

Waubonsee Community College's Liberal Arts and Sciences division is currently seeking adjunct instructors for English / Composition courses in our English department.

Adjunct faculty members are responsible for delivering curriculum, providing instruction, and performing student learning assessment. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to effectively use instructional and classroom technology to enhance teaching and learning. Courses at Waubonsee Community College may be offered in various delivery modes including, but not limited to, face-to-face, asynchronous online, synchronous online, hybrid, and flex.

Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

Designing syllabi, lessons, activities, assignments, and assessments to meet the established course description as well as program, course, and college learning outcomes and/or objectives while addressing each student's needs as diverse learners.

Meeting all college deadlines for submission of attendance, grades and data collection for assessment of student learning.

Incorporating learning-centered principles and concepts while motivating students to actively participate in their educational experiences.

Integrating instructional and classroom technology (if applicable) appropriately and effectively to deliver and enhance teaching and learning.

Working collaboratively with professional colleagues to serve the needs of students and the community.

Modeling professionalism with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Sections we are currently recruiting faculty for include are noted below. Additional courses may be added to meet student needs.

Beginning the week of September 19th:

- First Year Composition I - Sugar Grove Campus - Tuesdays, 6:00 - 9:30 pm
- First Year Composition II - Sugar Grove Campus - Wednesdays, 6:00 - 9:30 pm

Beginning the week of October 17th:

- First Year Composition I - Sugar Grove Campus - Mondays + Hybrid, 9:30 - 10:15am

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in English or Composition or a Masters Degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in English or Composition.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching English or Composition, or a related field, at a Community College or Vocational/Technical institution.

Experience teaching traditionally underserved populations.

Experience incorporating technology and multimedia applications into teaching and learning process.

Experience in teaching in multiple instructional modalities.

Experience in utilizing Learning Management Systems.
