Description
Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is a state agency that, "Helps People Live Better Lives" every day. The Division of Public Health within DHHS, has an immediate opening for an Administrative Technician within our Licensing Division.

Location: NSOB, 301 Centennial Mall South, Lincoln

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Examples of Work
Under general supervision, processes applications for professional and occupational licenses in accordance with policies and regulations. Reviews applications, transcripts and other required documents. Follows appropriate administrative procedures for the issuance, renewal, audit, reinstatement, and inactivation of these credentials. Enters licensing and renewal data in the License Information System (LIS) and Access. Updates LIS/Access based on change notifications including name changes, deaths and address changes. Interface with licensees, applicants, general public, and others regarding statutory and regulatory licensing and certification requirements. Handles routine phone calls, correspondence; maintains files; operates copiers and fax machines.

Qualifications / Requirements
What we Require: Coursework/training or experience related to research, presentation, or publication in an area related to the programs or functions of the employing agency; business administration; accounting; customer service; and/ or technical support work, including use of computer software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.

PREFERRED: Within the last 2-3 years; the ability to review applications/documents in accordance with guidelines, computer experience including experience with Microsoft Word and work related database entry (Access). Experience in handling phone calls/walk-ins related to status of application/documentation per regulatory standards. Experience in organizing, tracking, updating, and timely filing/retrieval of electronic and manual records/files. Experience in working with confidential documents.

OTHER: Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have effective communication skills and have the ability to accurately explain state statutes and regulations and application requirements. Must be able to read and understand regulations. Must demonstrate ability to seek direction as needed.
