Description:
The APP replacement position will primarily be dedicated to providing outpatient services.
Outpatient responsibilities will include independent staffing of the Vascular Surgery clinic, performing initial consultations and follow-up/surveillance for a wide spectrum of vascular disease including venous insufficiency, venous thromboembolism, lymphedema, hemodialysis access management, peripheral arterial disease, and carotid atherosclerotic disease. The scope of practice would extend until a higher level of care or vascular intervention is indicated. Given that vascular disease surveillance is the cornerstone of vascular disease management, the APP would support the long-term care of the growing patient population under the care of the vascular surgery service at LUMC. We anticipate that the APP will cover two full days in the outpatient office setting per week consisting of new referrals as well as post-op visits and routine vascular surveillance of patients with arterial, lymphatic or venous disease. The APP will also provide office-based venous interventions including sclerotherapy for venous disease under the supervision of vascular surgery faculty until sufficiently trained to do independently. The offloading of post-operative and surveillance clinic care from the vascular surgery faculty facilitates prompt evaluation and operative or interventional planning for patients requiring vascular interventions. The APP also plays a key role in addressing all peer-peer discussions which are frequently needed in the pre-authorization for the busy venous practice and essential to preserving the workflow of the group.
Prefer APP's with experience in Vascular Surgery or other surgical specialty
Outpatient experience as an APP is preferred.
New graduates with an interest in a surgical practice would be considered.
