It's an exciting time to consider joining OMAX. The integration of the two companies is still in process. With the stability of an over 50-year history with no layoffs, Hypertherm does not plan to make significant changes to OMAX's operations or management structure. The company's current offices and manufacturing operations in Kent, WA, will remain intact with no consolidations or reductions planned.

Our Kent, WA location at OMAX is currently recruiting a full-time Application Specialist. In this role, you will perform the following functions:

  • Program complex, 3-D Cad based 5 and 6-axis programs. Cut precision 2, 3 and 5-axis parts using waterjet technology
  • Complete customer samples (test cuts), utilizing many different test parameters
  • Design, source and complete sample parts for marketing that showcase the capabilities of our process and our equipment
  • Document and catalog test results, complete customer communications, documentation and reports
  • Develop and document techniques and processes for cutting unfamiliar materials, parts and applications
  • Schedule projects, machine time and personnel to maximize the utilization and output from the demo center
  • Provide guidance, training and demonstrations to customers on the capabilities, application specific techniques, and optimization of their OMAX Waterjet System in person and remotely
  • Design, fabricate, & assemble prototype fixturing for application specific cutting
  • Keep a clean and professional work environment. Organize workspace, tools and other items in an exceptionally neat and tidy manner
  • Occasion travel to trade shows, distributor facilities and customer locations


Qualifications:
  • Must have three years demonstrated work experience and two years of technical training required, additional education preferred. Must demonstrate proficiency with CAD/CAM
  • Strong experience with machine tools and modern 3D CAD and CAM systems for multi-axis programming
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication, and mathematical (geometry and trigonometry) skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical, machinery, plumbing, & electrical experience/aptitude
  • Knowledge of measurement and inspection equipment (IE Micrometers, CMM, etc)
  • Ability to analyze complex information and solve technical problems with minimal supervision
  • Desire to learn intricate details of complex software and hardware products
  • Demonstrated ability for creative thinking and a sense of urgency
  • Proficient in all operational aspects of Windows 10
  • Some form of programming knowledge/experience a plus
  • Must have good problem solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Capable of multi-tasking and the ability to work under pressure, roll up your sleeves and get wet and dirty
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
