POSITION PURPOSE:
The Assistant Controller will assist in overall financial statement responsibilities for the MTS business and management of accounting staff in Anaheim. The position will have oversight of all pertinent related balance sheet and income statement activity in the made to stock business. Manage the Accounts Payable group, interfacing with the manager and staff as necessary. The position will report directly to the Controller. This position will concentrate on improving functions related to the monthly close process, reporting and supervision of the reporting group.

Experience
* Up to 10 years of experience in accounting for a company with revenues of $250 million or more
* 2-3 year of managerial experience



Skills

* Prepare clear and concise correspondence and administrative and statistical reports
* Plan, organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
* Work under pressure effectively and professionally with all levels of management and outside vendors
* Keep financial information of the company confidential

Education
* Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
* CPA preferred



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Participate in the month-end closing process including review of journal entries, accruals, reserve analysis and reporting.
* Assist in the analysis of financial information and operating results for material variances.
* Prepare the monthly actual to budget financial analysis to identify areas for improvement.
* Prepare monthly to quarterly reports/actuals/filings/request for all things necessary.
* Identify and lead accounting improvement projects to automate and streamline accounting processes.
* Stay up to date on accounting rules and regulations that may relate to the company.
* Create financial reports in JD Edwards and Oracle as necessary.
* Interface with accountants in Mexico as necessary.
* Participate in audits of the company's financial statements by internal and external auditors.
* Ensure financial policies and Sox narratives are followed.
* Supervise and train staff as required.
* Other projects assigned by the Controller or CFO.

* Other duties as assigned
* Supervisory Responsibilities:
* The Accounts Payable Manager will report directly to this position.
* This position typically supervises a team of up to 8 employees.

* Travel Requirements:
* Minimal travel, both in and out of town, is required. Travel is typically by company car and commercial air carrier.
