A Campus Security Authority (or CSA) is defined as an "official of the institution with significant responsibility for student and campus activities." A CSA is required to immediately report any crime that is reported to them to the University Police who will then review, evaluate, and investigate the reported crime. Annual training is required by the Department of Education for all personnel who have been designated as a Campus Security Authority.

Chief Objective of Position:The Assistant Directors are responsible for the overall coordination and administration of multiple residence halls and supervision of residence life staff at Christopher Newport University. The Assistant Directors seek to provide a safe and secure living and learning community that complements the educational mission of the University and contributes to individual and interpersonal growth and development. As part of the Central Office Residence Life Staff, the Assistant Director position includes responsibilities of conflict resolution, programming, fostering community and leadership development, crisis intervention, some facilities management, and assisting with the administration of student conduct. Additionally, the Assistant Directors are responsible for supervising the live-in Residential Fellows, front desk operations, and overall management of the Resident Assistants (RAs).
This position is a full-time, 12-month position with on-call requirements that include nights, weekends, breaks, and holidays. The position is live-off, therefore, requires staff to live within a reasonable response time from campus with reliable transportation.
Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with experience that equates to a advanced degree.
Additional Consideration - Education:Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel or related field.
