Job Description/Responsibilities
The Assistant Professor is a full-time, tenure track position in the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior. The successful candidate will teach graduate courses in both the principal preparation and teacher leader programs. Responsibilities will include teaching graduate courses, research, and service to the program (including serving as program director at some point), the department, the school and the university. Teaching assignments include evening, weekend, satellite, and online courses. Summer assignments are available subject to enrollment and funding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants must have a doctorate in Educational Administration, Leadership & Policy Studies, Social Foundations, or an equivalent field by appointment date. ABD candidates are encouraged to apply. The conferral of the doctoral degree is required by the start of the contract.
  • Clearly demonstrated potential for scholarship, excellence in teaching, and engaged service to the program. Ability to effectively teach graduate courses leading to principal and teacher leader endorsements.
  • Knowledge, skill, and demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • K-12 administrative experience.
  • Current administrative licenses (principal or superintendent).
  • Skill in mentoring and advising graduate students.
  • Skill in supervising student research.
  • Skill in supervising field-based internships.
  • Readiness to cooperate on shared responsibilities in a department with a commitment to collaboration.

Terms of Appointment
Continuing tenure-track position for nine months. Summer appointment is contingent upon availability of funds and enrollment. The beginning date of appointment is in August 2024.
