The Back End Web Developer is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of Bank and Association Drupal websites. Working closely with the Marketing team, Marketing Strategists, IT/Network areas, vendors and our Association marketing managers, the Backend Developer is tasked with delivering adaptive and creative solutions that continuously improves the effectiveness, reach and content of our websites. In this role, the developer will work to identify and deliver what is best provided by the Drupal CMS and its modules (i.e., what should be customized, what should be built and what should be implemented/integrated to create the most compelling experience for the end user).

Duties & Responsibilities

General Website Design and Development:

  • Responsible for the development, programing and configuration of all Bank and Association websites and applications
  • Working closely with multiple stakeholder groups to plan and develop websites that meet Association business goals and objectives
  • Conducting all necessary background research for each site, conducting a thorough analysis of each site, and engaging with those stakeholders connected to each site on a frequent basis
Website Tracking and Analysis:
  • Responsible for analyzing the effectiveness of Bank and Association websites, including analyzing search engine optimization (SEO) and website statistics to accurately track, communicate and provide recommendations on traffic, usage rates, visibility and awareness
  • Responsible for recommending changes or updates based on analysis
New Web Initiatives:
  • Research, recommend and implement features and functions to enhance growth and awareness
Website Maintenance:
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Bank and Association websites, including but not limited to routine updates and edits, adding additional content, management of hosting environments, etc.
Requirements
  • Education or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or web development, OR equivalent training and on-the-job experience with at least 6 years of experience
  • Min 3-4 years related experience in web development
  • Effective project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and develop accurate project time estimates
  • Proven real-world Drupal 8/9 (or newer) backend development experience and the understanding of Drupal architecture at all levels including custom modules, themes, configuration management, preprocessors, services, controllers, plugins and event listeners
  • Experience with content types, taxonomy language, menu systems and other Drupal CMS data structures
  • Ability to manage hosting environments (Pantheon) and tools including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes
  • Knowledge and the ability to guide the business with regard to modern web standards and compliance best practices (ADA & WCAG 2.1 for example)
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with multiple programming languages / frameworks / etc. including PHP, JavaScript, Node.Js, Twig, JQuery, MySQL and HTML
  • Ability to handle complicated backend tasks such as website migrations, search customizations, translations, debugging and web service programming
  • A self-starter with the ability to problem solve, establish priorities, take initiative, work under time constraints, and exercise sound business judgment
  • Familiar with SEO best practices (semantic markup, alt tags, meta tags, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task and complete assignments within tight deadlines
  • Advanced understanding of code versioning tools such as GIT as well as development aiding tools such as Gulp and command-line interfaces
  • Knowledge of the HubSpot Marketing Automation platform is preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication skill with the ability to interpret client needs to achieve customer satisfaction
