Job Summary

The Battery Pack Engineering Lead has ownership responsibility for the design, development, and release of core products, features, and designs of the overall pack for internal and external customer products. This individual works as the primary customer-facing lead for development and launch support.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of new components & assemblies and the creation of tools & processes supporting efficient design.
  • Act as the primary technical interface to internal & external customers.
  • Apply technical knowledge to the on-time delivery of work products through the product development life cycle; utilize awareness of pack components status to proactively identify and mitigate risks in design delivery.
  • Serve as a mentor to Design Release Engineers.
  • Specify pack components, materials, & solutions to ensure products meet internal and customer requirements.
  • Key contributor to system DFMEA/PFMEA and DVP&R.
  • Lead Product & Process design reviews.
  • Evaluate supplier information, specifications, and validation data to support the selection of appropriate suppliers.
  • Work closely with the prototype build team; identify design improvements and processes to support DFM/DFA.
  • Support prototype builds ensuring parts are on time and to print; resolve engineering issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical support to production manufacturing and Quality teams to troubleshoot issues with product components and assemblies.
  • Expand professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars and conferences, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Contribute to team growth by completing projects in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.

Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Systems Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electrification product design or product development.
  • Adept in troubleshooting methods and disciplined documentation of findings.
  • Proficient in understanding CAE models, and deciphering boundary conditions, assumptions, and model limitations.
  • Adept in data processing and statistical analysis.
  • Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical test data to internal and external customers, and effectively communicating with suppliers.
  • Experienced with the handling of high-voltage lithium-ion battery systems.
  • Educated on common automotive & industry standards.
  • Familiar with the product development process.
  • Self-motivated problem solver; pays attention to details.
  • Challenges the status quo and strives for continuous improvement.
  • Abides by safety standards and protocols.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment.

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about in industrial environments, and on uneven terrain.
  • Works in a temperature-controlled office environment, with occasional work in outdoor weather conditions, and in industrial environments.
  • May be required to travel to and navigate a variety of sites to fully understand material needs.
