Job Description:
Mental Health and Substance Use Services are accepting applications for a Behavioral Health Practitioner Supervisor to oversee and manage a team of clinical staff at the Work Ethic Camp in McCook. The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions, which house approximately 5,200 incarcerated individuals, statewide. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Hiring rate is $31.033 - $44.332/hour. Pay rate may be commensurate with education, licensure, and/or experience within fiscal constraints, if approved.

DUTIES:
Plans, organizes, and coordinates mental health and substance use operations/programs as well as evaluating and correcting deficiencies to ensure proper documentation. Develops and directs the implementation of operational plans pertinent to mental health and substance use to ensure the establishment of appropriate goals and the development of action steps to achieve those goals. Determines and requests/submits staff, material, and equipment needs for Mental Health and Substance Use Services. Develops performance evaluation standards and procedures for subordinate staff. Reviews and compares work performance of subordinate staff with established standards. Counsels and confers with subordinate staff. Trains subordinate staff and other NDCS employees in the principles, practices, policies, and/or procedures of Mental Health and Substance Use Services/therapy. Responsible for the administrative and clinical supervision of all LMHP/PLMHP and LADC/PLADC. Counsels, treats and provides psychotherapy to individuals and groups. Compiles progress notes, documents, assessments, treatment activities, and other written documentation on assigned incarcerated individuals in a timely manner.

REQUIREMENTS: State of Nebraska license as a Mental Health Practitioner. Licensure requirements for all levels pursuant to Nebraska State Statutes 38-2122, 38-2124, and 38-316.

PREFERRED: Supervisory experience. Possesses a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) or dually licensed as a Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LADC) and a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP). Experience working with criminal offenders and Serious Mental Illness (SMI). Bilingual skills in Spanish/English desired and assessed.

OTHER: Proof of licensure and transcripts required upon acceptance of a job offer. Must submit to a security background check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical exam and a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Training Program.

Knowledge of: professional ethics; therapeutic methods for providing crisis intervention and group and individual therapy; psychiatric medications and their side effects; interpersonal dynamics; mental and emotional disorders; social and cultural factors as related to mental health; patterns and processes of normal growth and development; adult education; sound correctional security measures; case planning and development; department and institutional rules and regulations; institutional and community based resources; program development and evaluation; personnel rules.
