ECS is seeking a Benefits Assistant to work in our Fairfax, VA office or Remotely.

Job Description:

Job Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Benefits, the Benefits Assistant role assists employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verifies insurance billing, maintains employee database, and benefit files, and ensures compliance with required benefit notices. This position is an integral part of the Human Resources team.

General Responsibilities

  • Responds to benefit inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Monitors general email box for escalations and trends.
  • Assists with the administration of employee benefits plans to include, medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability claims, 401(k) plan, FSA, HSA, EAP, and wellness benefits. This includes writing updates to benefit booklets, employee communications, open enrollment materials, and the enrollment website.
  • Utilizes resources to ensure compliance with all related laws and regulations to include ERISA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA and other federal and state legislation.
  • Oversees wellness events and on-line programming.
  • Assists with administration of benefits for government contracts with Health and Welfare programs.
  • Reconciles and processes benefits invoices from various sources for accuracy and timely payment.
  • Keeps up to date on regulatory compliance and executes required notices and documentation for benefit programs.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve existing and sustainable processes to enhance the employee and administrative experience.
  • Assists the Benefits Team in completing benefits reporting requirements.
Pay Range: $24.04 - $31.25

General Description of Benefits

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related discipline. Experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 1+ years of relevant HR and benefits experience.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems.
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Products: EXCEL, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of regulatory landscape including ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADAAA, COBRA and other federal and state employment laws.
  • Analytical and research skills with capability to run and analyze standard reports.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and a self-starter.
  • Remarkable customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, as well as strong presentation skills.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with ADP Vanatage preferred.
