Job Description Summary:
Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), with offices in Connecticut, Colorado and California, is one of the country's most creative and dynamic providers of primary medical, dental, and behavioral health services, and a leader in practice-based research, health professionals training, and use of innovative technologies to advance health and healthcare. CHC is designated as a federally qualified health center and a patient-centered medical home by HRSA, the Joint Commission, and NCQA, respectively. We deliver more than 500,000 patient visits per year from primary care hubs and community clinics across the state of CT, all connected by technology and common standards for quality. We employ several hundred medical, dental, and behavioral health providers who are engaged in practice, teaching, and research. Our Weitzman Institute is devoted to research and practice transformation and is recognized around the country as one of the premier research institutes focused on improving health care and health outcomes for special and vulnerable populations. In addition, the organization has developed three wholly owned subsidiaries from the original pilot developments within the Weitzman Institute: the National Nurse Practitioner Residency and Fellowship Training Consortium (NNPRFTC), the National Institute for Medical Assistant Advancement (NIMAA), and the ConferMed.

Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Research Coordinator for the All of Us Research Program is responsible for recruiting participants, assisting participants with technology during enrollment, obtaining informed consent, obtaining physical measurements, collecting biospecimens, collecting data, inputting information into the data management platform, track basic patient data for research, coordinate team activities, and other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager. No science background is required for this position. The All of Us Research Program is an NIH funded national initiative that seeks to enroll one million people living in the United States in a 10 year longitudinal study and takes into account an individual's variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle. The goal of the program is to help researchers learn more about what affects people's health. The program will give new information and tools to people researching health. Their discoveries may lead to more personalized care and treatments. The Community Health Center, Inc. was awarded a grant to be part of the Health Provider Organizations that enroll patients into the program. The Research Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Program Manager, and receive specific training to complete the required duties.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruit and enroll CHC patients in the waiting rooms, common areas, and clinical spaces as appropriate
  • Learn program details and educate patients on program requirements
  • Identify and confirm patient eligibility
  • Obtain informed consent following IRB protocol
  • Obtain baseline physical measurements information (e.g. weight, height, blood pressure, hip and waist circumference)
  • Obtain biospecimens (e.g. blood, urine, and saliva)
  • Be trained on the NIH Good Clinical Practice and Human subjects in Research
  • Learn the most effective recruitment methods
  • Schedule and follow-up with patients enrolled in the program
  • Assist participants with enrolling in the program using a tablet, computer, or mobile app
  • Monitor patient interventions and collect patient data
  • Perform additional duties as requested by Program Manager and Principal Investigator

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to follow procedures and protocols consistently
  • Ability to problem solve, maintain priority and focus on assigned tasks
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Attention to detail and documentation
  • Bilingual Proficiency (Spanish/English)
  • Associates Degree
  • No science background required


  • Preferred Skills
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to public health research
  • Knowledge of research and working with the community
  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft office and internet related applications
  • Ability to perform basic measurements (e.g. waist circumference, weight, blood pressure)
  • Phlebotomist certification or training


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Must be able to independently travel to health center sites throughout CT, and participate in recruitment events in the community
  • Must be able to clearly communicate verbally
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Must be able to carry laptop and recruitment materials as part of recruitment activities

WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS
  • M-F 8:30-5:00
