Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Biostatistics is seeking Biostatisticians to join our team working on a variety of research projects including clinical trials and observational studies. Potential projects include, but are not limited to; a multi-center, multi-regimen, platform clinical trial in ALS (HEALEY ALS Platform Trial), clinical trials and observational studies in cancer and the NIH-sponsored RECOVER project, a national longitudinal study on COVID-19 "long-haulers".

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is the largest research hospital in the United States with an annual research budget of nearly one billion dollars. The mission of MGH Biostatistics is to engage in impactful trans-disciplinary partnerships involving quantitative methods in public health and biomedicine. The Biostatistics team includes over 40 faculty and staff biostatisticians who are deeply embedded in collaborative statistical methods and applied biomedical research across over 25 Divisions and Departments at MGH and beyond including cancer, cardiology, general internal medicine, global health, neurology, pediatrics, psychiatry, pulmonary and critical care medicine, and surgery.

Specific duties for the Biostatistician I include collaborating with clinical investigators under guidance of senior statisticians to:

  • Understand scientific issues, identify and derive required variables, and formalize analysis plans
  • Perform statistical analyses of data from clinical trials and observational studies
  • Support development and generation of reports on study progress, including reports for data and safety monitoring boards
  • Develop programs to perform data validation and error detection to ensure data integrity
  • Assist in manuscript preparation and review
  • Assist in the design of clinical studies and review protocols for statistical considerations


Qualifications
Job Requirements:

Applicants must have an MS/MA or equivalent in biostatistics/statistics and at least six months of experience preparing and analyzing data from clinical trials. Applicants must have strong SAS or R programming skills including re-use of legacy code, creation of new code, and implementing validation checks. Applicants must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, meet project deadlines, maintain up-to-date documentation, and have good interpersonal and communication skills. Experience analyzing longitudinal (i.e. repeated measures) data and time-to-event endpoints is preferred.
