Job Description Summary:
This position is responsible for performing mechanic work at a proficient level and proactively troubleshooting and recommending preventive action.

Job Description:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs to plant equipment and systems, including providing plant coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
  • Perform repairs on equipment from written instructions, sketches, plans, diagrams, oral descriptions or self-determined job requirements based on observed conditions.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on various systems, machines, lines, components and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot operational problems in order to identify appropriate corrective action.
  • Use appropriate hand and power tools to fit and install all types of pipes or similar tubing products: cut or drill holes in walls for passage of pipes.
  • Install valves, couplings and other fittings and or remove damaged or worn pipe.
  • Operate systems, machines, lines and equipment; e.g. vacuum systems, general hand tools and instruments.
  • Utilize all pipe fitting techniques and methods for different types of piping systems and pipe couplings including but welds, socket welded, threaded, Victaulic, grooved, glued and fused joints.
  • Must be able to work with carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, Poly, copper and high pressure alloys.
  • Document conditions, actions, procedures and results of work, tests or inspections performed as required by Company policies and procedures.
  • Document work performed on production equipment by maintaining accurate records or logs.
  • Comply with all departmental, cGMP, SOPs, GAPs and safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Keep supervision informed of status on equipment and procedure problems.
  • Revise schematics and blueprints to reflect any modifications to equipment or systems.
  • Maintain and upgrade technical and nontechnical skills through participation in company and outside training programs.
  • Assist with the training of other employees as directed.
  • Assist in both development and training other crafts, production and peers on new and old equipment.
  • Comply with department work schedules, shifts, call-ins; stand by, department coverage and overtime.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Report any changes or deficiencies of equipment in SAP to GL or Supervisor.

These positions must always act in such a way that the organization will learn from its incidents. They should report all accidents and near misses and encourage others to do so as well. Additionally, they should encourage SHE improvements to reduce and/or prevent future incidents.

Personnel should make regular inspections of their area to identify any housekeeping, safety or environmental concerns or (they should conduct safety, environmental and housekeeping inspections in their own areas before starting work and correct/report any deficiencies). If problems are detected, immediate corrective action should be initiated.

Specific SHE related training is to be completed as scheduled or within 45 days of returning to work if off during the scheduled training.

  • Schedule daily maintenance resources to complete work order priorities.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES:
  • Facility knowledge (SME) and scheduling of resources to maintain the facility equipment and systems throughout the facility.
  • Developing schedules that integrate production and maintenance resources that limit the downtime of production equipment and facility systems.
  • Ability to respond to emergency work orders; and determine overtime hours in monitoring scheduled work.
REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

Education:

Associate degree directly related to the position (e.g., Electronics/Electrical, Instrumentation Technology, Engineering, Refrigeration, HVAC, Welding/Metal Fabrication, or other applicable technical degree) plus 4 years industrial experience in the appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Refrigeration, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.).

OR

6 years industrial experience in appropriate disciplines (e.g., Instrumentation, Electronics, Industrial Electrical, Heating Ventilation

and Air Conditioning (HVAC), Plumbing/Pipe Fitting, Welding, Production Machine Maintenance, High Pressure Boilers, Pure Water

Systems, Utility Systems, Repair and Overhaul, etc.).

Experience:

FDA Regulated Industry experience.

Minimum level of experience in the following:
  • Problem Analysis.
  • Communications (oral and written).
  • Technical Knowledge (electrical, mechanical, piping, pneumatics, industrial control or hydraulics).
  • Initiative.
  • Stress Tolerance.
  • Leadership.
  • Ability to work in fast paced area pressure environment
  • Direct experience with instrumentation and electronics - if job requires this knowledge
  • Security clearance required because this position will possibly access controlled substances.
  • Mechanical knowledge of mechanical overhaul and repairs - if job requires this skill.
  • Skill in planning and organizing, problem analysis, judgment/decision making.
  • Reading and comprehension of blueprints, manuals and training materials.
  • Those expected to weld must successfully demonstrate welding performance in accordance with Section IX of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code for shielded arc and gas tungsten arc applicable to ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Universal certification as a Refrigeration Technician - if this job requires this certification.
  • Maintain high pressure boilers and physical plant equipment, if required.

  • Inspection of facilities and troubleshooting activities may require stooping, crawling, climbing ladders, and/or walking on roofs.
  • Must have the following vision requirement: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds 1/3 of time at work.
