Business Analyst

  • The Business Analyst is a member of the client team responsible for identifying business/client, user needs and refining and translating them into detailed business requirements and technical specifications that support the overall product strategy.
  • This is a dynamic role that drives the day-to-day development of key technologies for a program that generates multi-million dollar business value to the organization by providing clients with industry leading platforms that offer full transparency for their program in an easily digestible format.
  • This role will be accountable for eliciting and critically evaluating information gathered from multiple sources, reconciling conflicts, decomposing high-level information into details, abstracting up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguishing user requests from underlying true needs.
  • In order to perform the role, the successful candidate is expected to collaborate closely with Internal and External Users, Product Managers, Project Managers, Software Architects, Data Analysts, Developers, QA and other Business Analysts.
  • The candidate is responsible for identifying and understanding technical and non-technical issues related to each project and providing appropriate guidance and potential solutions while managing expectations and creating measurable improvement.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Elicit, gather, analyze and validate customer and end user needs by: discovery/research, data analysis, gap analysis, interviews, documenting complex process/task/work flows, storyboards, user stories, scenarios, use cases and by other BA methods.
  • Identify scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define impact, outcome criteria and metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, to assess cross product and operational impacts of proposed solutions and contribute throughout the entire product/project lifecycle to achieve a successful outcome.
  • Organize complex problems into simple, scalable, solution options that streamline processes, simplify data presentation and improve the user experience.
  • Create/Maintain business requirements/technical specifications, which may include: scope, assumptions/constraints, user stories, business requirements, business rules, functional rules, logic, data elements, file specifications, flows, wireframes, use cases, etc.
  • Quickly develop a comprehensive understanding of the features, functions, limitations and possibilities of all our current systems and software and how they interact.
  • Perform high-level, user acceptance testing as part of requirements confirmation.
Education

Bachelor's Degree required in Business, Computer Science, or related discipline or equivalent work experience is required.

Prior Relevant Work Experience:
  • 5 plus years of experience as a business analyst with Agile principals and methodologies.
  • Expert knowledge of MS office and Visio.
Essential Qualifications and Functions:
  • Comprehensive understanding of business analyst methods, tools and documentation standards.
  • Excellent elicitation/discovery and root cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills that reflect strategic, critical and creative thinking.
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills to various audiences and cross-functional teams both technical and non-technical.
  • Expert knowledge of MS office and Visio.
  • Highly proficient technical writing capabilities.
  • Proven experience with creating and maintaining business and technical requirements throughout the product development lifecycle.
Knowledge of:
  • Strong presentation, persuasion, negotiation and people skills.
  • Experience in working with multiple project management methodologies (i.e. waterfall and agile).
  • Strong customer service orientation with attention to transparent communication at all levels.
  • Ability to effectively work within a highly collaborative, team environment.
  • Broad understanding of the software development life cycle and computer science concepts.
Nice to Have:
  • Foundational knowledge and experience in querying databases using SQL to perform data analysis.
