Job Description

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials (i.e. raw materials and/or finished good components), required by site operations to meet inventory requirements and deliver on customer service goals. This includes coordinating with the Planning Team and Site Schedulers and working with all Vendors, Brand Managers and Procurement. The Buyer reviews the master plan, purchasing required materials and balancing orders to successfully execute the production schedule.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Purchase all raw materials and/or finished good components
  • Track orders and conduct vendor communication to ensure timely delivery
  • Maintain inventory levels
  • Collaborate with customers and suppliers to prioritize and deliver materials on time and in full
  • Initiate problem resolution, resolving routine questions and problems, referring complex situations to Manager
  • Identify ways to improve purchasing and inventory for assigned area
  • Participate in process improvements efforts
  • Provide direction on matters regarding supply chain, forecasting, production planning and development
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to management and other business functions
  • Utilize MRP reports, Forecast Demand Reports, Product Wheel Tool as well as Automated Packaging Systems (APS)
  • Other duties may be assigned as required
Job Requirements
  • 1-3 years of related experience, ideally within a related industry
  • Understanding material requirements for purchasing, planning and scheduling
  • Experience using ERP system (Oracle VCP preferred) in a consumer goods organization
  • Knowledge of AS400 and MRP/ERP systems (e.g., Oracle)
  • Exposure to KPIs and Master Data Management
  • Undergraduate degree preferred/or 2-5 years work related experience
  • Supply chain expertise in CPG industry a plus
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, balancing team and individual responsibilities
  • Proficient with PC Programs (Word, excel, PPT) - especially with v-look up and pivot tables
  • AS400 and ASCP knowledge
  • Ability to create and understand reports in order to make production decisions; detail oriented
  • Self-starter, takes initiative, thinks like an owner
  • Strong analytical skills using assumptions and data parameters to make purchasing decisions
  • Ability to influence others within and outside of the designated network
  • Exhibit positive attitude regarding work and responsibilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively within teams
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness and agility with organization changes and changing market demands.
  • Positive change management view supporting new work structures, processes, and requirements.
  • Passion and drive to assess current work processes with new solutions, efficiency and quality standards.
  • Is creative and intellectually curious; tries different and novel ways to solve obstacles
