Position Information: Description

The purpose of this position is to provide the highest quality service to customers in the service and dining room areas in dining service operations.  This may include but is not limited to: serving food, maintaining cleanliness, and communicating with customers.  The position works primarily in residential dining operations but may also work in retail operations and catered events on or off premises.  This position is a front of the house position that has a high level of direct customer contact.  This position works closely with student employees to ensure quality products and service are provided for customers.

Duties & Responsibilities
    Receives customers into the dining room:  greets guest runs the guest meal cards or U Cash Cards thru the Encore Lt card readers, takes cash or credit card purchases for customers and logs the transaction. Provides exceptional customer service.     Performs many duties on the Odyssey System:  Does inquiry of accounts, records sack lunches on the Odyssey system for the designated meal, records Wing parties on the Odyssey System for the designated meal, records special activities with bonus meals, reports to the manager when the Odyssey System is down, records contracts not on the system and notifies manager and records meal counts      Assists customers with various services:  Off campus contracts, orders sack lunches, student birthday cake orders and assists students with board changesTrains part time/student cashiers on the Odyssey System       Enforces the Dining Services policies    Washes tables and does general housekeeping of the dining roomCleans and Sanitizes service areas to keep them presentable for studentsResponsible for décor seasonal changes in Dining RoomStocks – waffle, toast, bagel area as neededStocks the beverage bar, cereal bar, milk dispensers, assist with salad bar stocking and production when neededAssist with stocking of silverware, dishes, napkins, tray’s when neededFill in at retail locations as needed:  Snack Bars, Convenience Stores, Coffee shopsStanding for 3-4 hours at a timeLifting 35-45 lbs.Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies which include removal of all jewelry and piercings (a plain wedding band is permissible) and wearing hairnets and beard restraints.Must be able to work with the preparation and disposal of fish, poultry, beef, lamb, pork and other meat products in professional culinary commercial kitchen. 
Required Competencies
    Desire excellent interpersonal and communication skillsMust be able to stand for 3-4 hours at a time and move 35 to 45 lbsDemonstrated dependabilityGood interpersonal, communication, prioritizing, organization, and problem-solving skills  Strong Customer Service skills with an emphasis on student customers.  Ability to count money and do basic math.Experience with training student employees and cross training fulltime staff with like positions  Proven record of the ability to maintain correct recordsCreates and sustains a work environment based on ethics, integrity, trust, and accountability.  Serves as a role model to others in terms of setting the tone for acceptable behavior/conduct. Creates an inclusive work environment where others can motivate themselves to perform at their highest level. Treats others with dignity and respect at all times and fosters a sense of camaraderie and goodwill in dealing with others
Minimum Requirements
    Requires High School Diploma or GEDSix months POS Cash handling, credit card experienceOne-year customer service experienceSuccessful completion of Criminal History Records Check

Preferred Qualifications
    Two years food service experience focusing on customer serviceOne-year food production in either quick service or large quantityData Entry, Spreadsheet, CBORD OMNI computer system experience.NRA ServSafe Certified.Valid driver’s license
Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$13.33/hour increased to $14.00/hour after successful six month review,  Full-time, Benefited, Non-exempt

Work Schedule/Start Date

Normal schedule Monday -Thursday  12:30pm - 9:00pm and Friday 12:00pm - 8:30pm  with rotating weekends
