The Precious Metals (PM) Category Manager's primary function is to manage the PM supply base and cost reduction activities for all assigned PM demand globally.

You will have the opportunity to:

The PM Category Manager will create and manage a supply base which is capable to supply PM in the quality, quantity and the required time we need PM at every site. The PM Category Manager's strategy includes virgin material as well as refined material and will drive cost savings, reduce refine cycle time and procurement standardization, with responsibilities including:

  • Understand global and regional supply markets within the assigned categories, including major suppliers and their capabilities, global capacity and demand, industry trends, and historical and projected price movements.
  • Lead cost reduction activities, including cross-functional collaboration on Continuous Improvement initiatives, for assigned manufacturing facilities to improve Materion's cost position and contribute to profitability and competitiveness.
  • Define, manage, and execute project plans, deliverables, metrics, and milestones in the areas of: Market Research & Analysis, Data Collection/Management, Financial Analysis, Cost Modeling, RFx Creation, Supplier Communication Management, Evaluation & Negotiation of Agreements, Contracting, Supplier Performance Management and Development.
  • Develop & manage collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders internal and external to the assigned Materion facilities.
  • Facilitate implementation, execution, and adoption of Corporate Preferred Supplier Programs within facilities.
  • Function as primary point of contact within assigned manufacturing facilities for all procurement related issues and activities.
  • Contribute to the development of category strategies that accomplish key objectives, including: Cost Reduction, Process Effectiveness, Supplier Optimization & Management, Risk Reduction / Mitigation, and Improved Visibility & Control of Expenditures.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and alignment of global or regional sourcing strategies and global or regional supplier network capabilities where applicable to achieve broad Business Unit objectives.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new technologies and in new markets as business requirements dictate;
  • Direct the development and negotiation of complex agreements with suppliers encompassing key program specifications and functional objectives.
  • Develop, coordinate and manage supplier business reviews. These drive the Supplier relationship activity to ensure continuous quality and delivery of supply to meet business demands.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive procurement/sourcing experience, including supplier and category management.
  • Utilization of strategic sourcing processes, preferably in a multi-plant manufacturing environment.
  • Professional (ISM) Certification (C.P.M., CPSM, etc.) and/or Lean/Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • Experience with SAP or other structure ERP systems preferred.
  • Experience with sourcing/contracting of precious metals a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
