UVA Department of Anesthesiology utilizes and embraces the 'Anesthesia Team care model', involving anesthesiologists, CRNAs, residents, SRNAs, and anesthesia technologists. The CRNA is a critical team member administering general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care in a variety of settings: Main OR (vascular, trauma, neurosurgery, orthopedics, ENT, gyn, plastics) outpatient surgical services, obstetrics, pediatrics, off sites (outpatient endoscopy center, cath lab, MRI, interventional radiology). Additionally, in the summer of 2022 the newly built state of the art Ivy Mountain Orthopedic Outpatient care facility will enable the CRNAs to expand their scope of practice to incorporate regional anesthesia with a variety of peripheral nerve blocks.

VACATION: 5 weeks annual vacation with 1 education week.

Participates in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation. Formulates a patient-specific plan for anesthesia care in collaboration with attending anesthesiologist. Implements monitors and adjusts patient's physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and patient's needs. Performs anesthesia-related procedures under supervision of attending anesthesiologist (central lines, arterial lines, spinal/epidural, regional nerve blocks). Implements, monitors, and adjusts patient's physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patient's needs. Transfers the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assumes responsibility for professional development and contributes to the professional development of others. Opportunities to participate on specialty teams within the department (pediatrics, obstetrics, cardiovascular, regional). Opportunities for leadership roles both within the department and institution. Opportunities to assist in performance improvement directives within the department and within the institution. Opportunity to function as a preceptor to supervise, instruct, and teach junior and senior student nurse anesthetists. Opportunity to support research by conducting/participating in projects.

Position Compensation Range: $77.19 - $119.65 Hourly

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master of Science or Doctorate in Nursing from accredited program, approved by the State Accrediting Agency and the Council on Accreditation.

Experience: No experience required. New graduates are welcomed.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Licensed to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Clinical Site Affiliate: Virginia Commonwealth University and Georgetown University nurse anesthesia programs. BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: (squeezing an ambu bag). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs and lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, heat, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

SALARY: starting at $160,555.20 for new grads.

Large sign on bonus with a 3 year commitment required.
