Job Description

Our Chemist I works under the direct supervision of the Sr. Chemist / Chemist Level III assisting and performing sample preparation and analysis of client's samples. They are focused on the correct testing of specimens to comply with internal procedures, industry standards, and written instructions.

• Work under the direct supervision of the Senior Chemist / Chemist Level III to perform analyses of client samples
• Perform routine operations, maintenance, calibration, qualification, and ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment/instruments
• Day-to-day Sample preparation for the final analysis
• Day-to-day operational activities of Chemistry Lab housekeeping, maintaining of notebooks, etc.,
• Support SGS in such a manner as to fulfill the company's mission statement, quality objectives, and safety objectives
• Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

• Language Skills: English Advanced level of knowledge
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively in one-to-one situations with customers or employees of an organization.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer Skills

• Microsoft Office suite (Work, Outlook)
• Order Processing Software (In-house order system)

Equipment

• Optical emission spectrometers and software
• LECO combustion analysis instruments and software
• General sample preparation equipment and techniques
