Job Description:


The Chemistry Laboratory Manager will be responsible for stock room management, preparation of all equipment and chemicals for general chemistry laboratory sections, purchase and inventory of small equipment and supplies, budget monitoring, and training of student lab assistants. Also responsible for a maximum of 3 hours weekly of instruction in the Chemistry laboratory. Additional responsibilities include monitoring safety policies and training, and assisting faculty in laboratory activities and development of laboratory activities.



Requirements:


A successful candidate should have a M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical education, chemical hygiene or related field. A candidate with a B.S. and relevant experience will also be considered. Additionally, the candidate should have experience teaching undergraduate science, as well as at least two years of experience in organizing and/or directing laboratory work. At least two years of experience handling chemical storage and waste disposal preferred. The candidate should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have strong budgeting skills, and exceptional time management abilities. Chemical safety principles and chemical waste management experience are required. Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in environmental compliance, preparing regulatory agency reports, and managing a comprehensive chemical hygiene program.
