Job Description/Responsibilities
The successful candidate will teach in the Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics program as well as the undergraduate nutrition program. Expected teaching responsibilities are four courses/loads per term. Other responsibilities may include coordination for supervised practice experiences for graduate students. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute service to the program, the Department of Applied Health, the University, and professional organizations. The ideal candidate will have prior management experience and/or familiarity with the accreditation standards specified by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Summer teaching assignments may be available, depending upon enrollment and funding.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Earned doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD, DCN) in Nutrition or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, but the doctoral degree is required by the contact start date in August, 2023.
  • Registered Dietitian credential and licensure (RD, LD).
  • Relevant professional experience in nutrition and/or food service management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of ability to teach effectively at the university level.
  • Experience teaching and/or precepting in dietetics programs.
  • Working knowledge of coordination of supervised practice experiences.
  • Prior management experience and/or familiarity with the accreditation standards specified by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
  • Ability to teach a variety of courses such as sports nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, nutrition research methods and/or food service management.
  • Preference will also be given to candidates who demonstrate readiness to cooperate on shared responsibilities in a department with a commitment to collaboration, and have a demonstrated interest in teaching diverse students. Terms of Appointment
Clinical track faculty positions are nine-month appointments. Initial appointments are for renewable contract periods of one year. Following promotion, appointments will be for renewable contract periods of three years. Summer appointment is contingent upon availability of funds and enrollment. Beginning date of appointment is in August 2023.
