The Immunopathology Unit, located within the Department of Pathology at MGH, is looking for an enthusiastic and organized individual to join their team as a Clinical Lab Assistant (CLA). The CLA will be working closely with members of the unit which is formed by the Flow Cytometry, Electron Microscopy, ANCA, Immunofluorescence and Renal Pathology Laboratories. Reports to the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor as well as the Technical DIrector of the Immunopathology Unit.

This individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical tasks under general supervision which directly contribute to the efficient operation of the unit laboratories and also will directly impacts the care of our patients.

The individual hired for this position will perform, but is not limited to, the following:

• Receives, confirms and enters relevant patient and case information into an LIS computer system, as well as other laboratory-specific databases
  
• Electronically scans and verifies all case paperwork and properly disposes of scanned paperwork
  
• Handles specimen send outs and receipt
  
• Performs clerical tasks such as faxing reports and data entry
  
• Orders and maintains office supplies and laboratory reagents
  
• Helps with the coordination of some routine maintenance activities such as equipment QC
  
• Provides support for clinicians, administration or technologists with laboratory-related projects
  
• Follows all Health and Safety policies including: infection control, handling of hazardous material and standard precautions
  
• Successfully participates in all yearly and ad hoc competency assignments and compliance activities
  
• Adheres to proper handling, labelling and transportation of specimens
  
• Maintains a safe working environment
  
• Performs other clinical laboratory assistant duties and responsibilities as required at the direction of Immunopathology Unit leadership
  

The Clinical Laboratory Assistant title (level I, II or Senior) will be determined based on the applicant/hiree's background experience.

Qualifications
Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
