Gynecology Oncology Nurse Job Description:

Collaborate with physician and medical team regarding treatment plan. Assist providers with pelvic exams, pap smears, biopsies, and other minor procedures. Provide education about disease process and chemotherapy. Schedule surgical procedures and provide teaching in preparation for surgery.

Plan and provide profess ional nursing care for patients in accordancewith physician orders and e stablished policies and procedures to includecollecting and analyzing pa tient data, developing and implementingnursing care plans, establishing interpersonal relationships withpatients, evaluating nursing care given andcommunicating to properpersonnel relevant facts about patients, actio ntaken and patientresponses.Assist other nursing personnel in the delive ry of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unitas assigned.Provide direction and guidance in the proper use, care and control ofmaterial resources; appraise quality and effectiveness of material andequipment and report results to head nu rse; maintain standards ofcleanliness in assigned areas. Observe activit ies of nursing staff andmake recommendations to nursing management forim provement in thequality and effectiveness of nursing care given.Assist i n the development and implementation of general policies andprocedures d esigned to effect efficiency of operations.Perform other related dutiesi ncidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program. All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.

Experience

Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required. At a manager's discretion, employees with 6 months of experience who are exceptional performers may be eligible for this level.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required.
