Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

We are seeking a part-time Computer Programmer to enhance and integrate two of our existing projects in the Hur laboratory: richR and RichStudio.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Further develop RichStudio, an R Shiny App used for functional enrichment analysis and gene-based clustering analysis http://hurlab.med.und.edu:3838/RichStudio/).
  • Integrate RichStudio with richR, an R package that facilitates functional enrichment analysis and visualization of gene sets from high-throughput next-generation sequencing data (http://hurlab.med.und.edu/richR; https://github.com/hurlab/richR/).
  • Ensure that the combined toolset provides a seamless user experience and enhances the capabilities for users to perform complex Omics data analysis.
  • Develop additional programming projects in the future utilizing R Shiny. - (Essential)
Required Competencies
  • Computer skills are required: R and C programming
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to interface and communicate effectively with team members from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent planning, time management, organizational, and work coordination skills are needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • B.S. in Computer Sciences or current enrollment in a B.S. program in Computer Sciences.
  • Proficient in R programming, particularly with experience in R Shiny App development (minimum of 1 year). Evidence such as hyperlinks to previous Shiny web apps or GitHub repositories should be included in the cover letter.
  • Experience with C languages (C, C++, C#, or others), acquired through training courses or research projects. Include an appendix with coding examples or provide hyperlinks to GitHub repositories.
  • Experienced in using and managing version control systems, especially Git. Provide hyperlinks to your public GitHub page and any group pages in the cover letter.
  • A complete academic CV or resume, including computational training and projects, must be submitted.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in other programming languages, especially Python, is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in Omics data analysis is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in machine learning and artificial intelligence is preferred but not required.
