SUMMARY
The Construction Project Manager is responsible for project profit and loss and oversees overhead and underground construction, procurement, design and inspection, and related lines of work for Chickasaw Network Services, LLC (CNS), a Telecom and Utility Construction Company. This position performs marketing and sales activities to grow and diversify the business, supports sales, operations and works directly with customers and in-house and sub-contractor personnel. The Construction Project Manager is responsible for the coordination of purchases by evaluating suppliers for quality, pricing and delivery timeliness. This function requires the Manager to initiate and handle relationships with vendors and the company's operational department. Such relationships provide a platform to negotiate on behalf of the company for the best value of purchases that support its operations and business objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Directs the day-to-day operations of construction projects for the operating unit.

Responsible for safe work practices and implementing company safety programs for all subordinates.

Ensures all work production meets internal and external quality standards.

Develops and implements resource and production plans to meet customer needs.

Travels to specific job sites (frequency depending on size, location, and issues) in order to coach and support field supervisors.

Evaluates and encourages the performance of all subordinates, including conducting formal performance appraisals on direct subordinates.

Establishes tracking methods and systems in order to measure and report crew productivity; compares results versus estimates and reports weekly job progress on all assigned work.

Identifies, problem solves, and corrects problem areas on loss or low profit jobs.

Responsible for meeting and exceeding established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as defined by executive leadership.

Effectively manages vendor relationships
Evaluates and monitors contracts to ensure vendors comply with contractual terms and conditions.

Arranges meetings with staff and vendors to discuss issues affecting the supply chain and possible measures.

Ensures problem resolutions are achieved without compromising the relationship with vendors and company customers. Facilitates the resolution of escalated vendor-related issues.

Scouts for potential subcontractors based on capabilities, resources and equipment owned by subcontractor.

Participates in vendor market events and kick off meetings.

Facilitates periodic vendor briefings with internal staff to discuss work.

Meets regularly with in-market internal staff to keep apprised of strategic direction of the project and how it would be supported by current and future vendor relationships.

Receives and processes requests for new vendors. Receives and responds in a timely manner to daily inquiries from vendors regarding the certification process.

Works with accounts payable to resolve vendor aging and reconciliation matters.

Prepares and maintains quarterly subcontractor scorecards.

Manages the equipment and fleet, ensuring maximum utilization and coordinating maintenance.

Manages and controls the procurement, use and application of tools and equipment.

Manages labor and maintain employee relations regarding hiring, terminations, and employee resolution.

Develops bids and proposals for targeted opportunities in the designated market.

Provides General Manager with financial and operational performance management reporting.

Provides employee training and professional development.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to any training made available by the company.

Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and coworkers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions to the best of own ability

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree and five (5) years' experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree may be substituted for years of experience. Five (5) years' of related managerial experience. Formal training in management, supervision, and administration. Proven track record of leading a large construction organization.

CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / REGISTRATION
Valid Driver's License Required
May be required to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Working knowledge of estimating and project management with an acceptable degree of construction knowledge
Extensive knowledge and understanding of data-driven cost estimating and analysis techniques and standard practices
Demonstrated knowledge in industrial safety and OSHA regulations with ability to develop and implement viable safety plans / measures
Excellent computer skills with proficiency in construction management software, and Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook)
Skilled in facilitating teamwork and coordinating efforts for the successful achievement of goals
Excellent supervisory and management skills with ability to resolve conflicts, grievances, confrontations or disagreements in a constructive manner
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints
Ability to read and understand pricing requirements outlined in contractual documents
Ability to write a detailed scope of work that is clear, concise and easily understood
Solid customer service skills with ability to develop professional relationships
Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage effectively multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, critical thinking and financial management skills
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment
Ability to work independently as well as lead a team
Ability to schedule, plan and lead meetings
Ability to travel to various construction sites, as needed

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Frequent exposure to noise - workers must wear protective hearing equipment or frequently shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. Exposure to pollutants or allergens which can adversely affect the skin and/or the respiratory system such as gases, smoke, odors, mists, fumes, dust, chemicals, oils or solvents. Exposure to hazardous working conditions including moving machinery, electricity and/or working in high places. May be exposed to hot objects, flames or sparks. The job requires the use of protective equipment such as hard hats, respirators, aprons, gloves, special clothing, safety shoes and safety glasses.
