Location/Division Specific Information

This position is located at 300 Industry Drive, Pittsburgh, PA and supports the Customer Channels.

Discover Impactful Work:

This specialist is dedicated to supporting the sales team in serving our customers through cross reference related activities. Key responsibilities include identifying strategic cross references for competitive bid situations, recommending appropriate alternatives to support margin improvement and cost savings initiatives, and developing / maintaining cross reference tools and data. The successful candidate will have strong product knowledge, excellent computer and interpersonal skills, and display phenomenal attention to detail.

A day in the Life:

• Develop and maintain databases and tools that are essential to facilitate competitive and strategic alternatives, and help to improve these processes
• Support the commercial team in bid expansions to win new business
• Collaborate and develop business strategies specific for each customer based on supplier and equivalency preferences
• Recommend strategy-specific cross references by utilizing existing data and identify new cross references through researching product specifications and utilizing product knowledge
• Identify alternative cross references to suggest alternative products for customer savings options
• Collaborate with Portfolio Management to proactively identify portfolio gaps, improve cross reference data, and provide meaningful data to assist with pricing projects
• Prepare weekly project reports and update monthly metrics on profit improvement projects and other cross reference initiatives
• Engage in additional projects

Keys to Success:

Education

• Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field

Experience

• 2+ years laboratory experience
• Broad knowledge of laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and consumables
• Familiarity with major laboratory supply brands, both internal and external to the company
• Ability to work under within timelines and demonstrate flexibility with priorities

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Detailed knowledge of Microsoft office products and an ability to quickly grasp new software tools. (Proficiency with Excel, Access, and Cognos preferred)

• Must be focused and analytically minded
• Standout colleague with good interpersonal skills
• Must possess strong communication, both verbal and written
• Ability to learn and seek process improvements
• Must be comfortable working in a hybrid office/remote environment
