Messenger's mission is to be a universal way for people to connect and be closer together. We're looking for a Data Scientist to support and to lead the measurement development and strategy on the Messenger Privacy team. This work is urgent and complex: our over 1 billion users should have the confidence that the platform they use to connect with loved ones is keeping their data safe. Earning that confidence will require product development around end-to-end encryption, message ephemerality, and other new privacy-centric features.In this role, you would be a key thought leader for the Messenger Privacy team, working hand-in-hand with product management, engineering, user research and design. You will lead deep dive analysis of user behavior/needs and product opportunities to address users' Messaging Privacy concerns. You will drive the measurement plan building to track our progress and guide the team for long-term success. The ideal candidate for this role will be excited about working collaboratively with a talented & driven team of cross-functional partners including engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure privacy-focused features achieve their promise in a measurable way. Additionally, you have demonstrated strong product leadership to tackle ambiguous questions and enjoy solving strategic and high visibility problems.

<ul><li>Set goals and success criteria to guide and prioritize product roadmaps</li><li>Conduct deep dive analysis to identify new product opportunities and influence product strategy</li><li>Build measurement plan to track the progress and to guide the team for long-term success</li><li>Monitor key product metrics, understanding root causes of changes in metrics</li><li>Answer big picture questions by developing concrete and actionable analytical plan</li><li>Influence product teams through presentation of data-based recommendations, and clearly communicating state of business, experiment results, etc. to product teams</li></ul>

<ul><li>Bachelors/Masters Degree with 4+ years (or PhD with 2+ years) of experience working within an analytical role</li><li>Experience in SQL, Python, R or other programming languages</li><li>Experience communicating the results of analyses with product and leadership teams to influence the strategy of the product</li><li>Working knowledge of predictive modeling, machine learning, hypothesis testing and experimentation/causal inference methods</li><li>Proven communication skills and experience connecting with and influencing a broad spectrum of audiences</li><li>Proven experience forming partnerships with and influence cross-functional leaders in engineering, product, design, research, etc.</li></ul>

<ul><li>Experience designing and evaluating complex experiments</li><li>Experience in supporting new product development or working in highly ambiguous areas with low existing direction</li><li>Experience answering big picture questions by framing the business question into an analytical plan and communicate to stakeholders</li><li>Experience building measurement plan and setting goals to guide execution for the product teams</li><li>Bachelors/Masters Degree with 7+ years (or PhD with 5+ years) of experience working within an analytical role</li></ul>
