DATA SCIENTIST - CUPERTINO, CA

Our client is looking for a Data Scientist with a Digital Marketing/Web Analytics background who will be responsible for providing critical analysis and insights to help inform and optimize the digital strategy for the marketing communications on the website (i.e., new products, new features, site interaction, how people are flowing through the website/how the world is reacting to new product launches, etc.).

The role will be responsible for designing and building data visualizations to help business users understand a story around web traffic data. You will help build out smarter, and automated ways to interface with the data.

There is an aspect to this role that is very \"blank canvas\". Looking for an entrepreneur who can come in, excel in an environment where they can go many directions, and be a builder.

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR THIS ROLE WILL:

  • Have a hands on, get the job done, attitude.
  • Be an excellent communicator with good design sense and natural presentations skills that can weave results into a narrative for business and creative teams to comprehend easily.
  • Be a self-starter can take a project from start to finish with minimal supervision.
  • Have flexibility to deal with rapidly changing, time-constrained launch schedules.
  • Be able to balance multiple projects and assignments.
TOP SKILLS:
  • 5+ years of experience in a Marketing/Analytics domain (developing analytical dashboards, solutions and strategy across digital marketing platforms and social ecosystems)
  • Strong SQL skills (the ability to write simple, and complex queries from scratch as well as modify existing queries).
  • Experience with R or Python scripting (for digital analytics data, measurement and process automation)
  • Experience with Tableau (and other tools for data visualization)
  • Solid understanding of fundamental statistical concepts and measurement methodologies
  • Experience with Web Analytics (i.e., Google Analytics, or Adobe Analytics)
PLUS SKILLS:
  • Experience working with Adobe Analytics Platform (+)
  • Experience with Adobe API (+)
  • Experience in working across different global cultures (+)
EDUCATION:
  • BS or equivalent Degree - Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics, Economics, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Marketing Science is desirable
DAY TO DAY:
  • Provide analysis and insights to help inform and optimize digital properties and strategy for the marketing communications platforms.
  • Designing and building dashboards and data visualizations to help business users understand data and inform decisions.
  • Ad hoc analyses
  • Work directly with creative and technology teams as well as a wide array of business stakeholders
  • Present findings in a meaningful and clear way.
  • Balance competing priorities in ever-changing environment.
Working beyond what a normal analyst can do by utilizing data science methodologies and best practices. Will get into the web data, do some modeling with it.
Example project: visit intent classification, this is big data and tease out difference between types of visits. Another sample project is working with adobe analytics platform, adobe API - want to build out smarter ways of interfacing with the data.
