SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the Data Scientist, Pricing works collaboratively with others to develop, design, and implement statistical models to improve GameStop's new, used, and trade-in business model. This position utilizes extensive knowledge of statistical programs to drive modeling initiatives with innovation and provide results and recommendations to management using non-statistical language. This position will provide In-depth data analysis and model formulations in response to business needs. The position will also deep dive areas of the business and market segments that are not as well-understood, allowing us to identify and leverage new opportunities. The role requires application of complex and simple statistical and machine learning tools to summarize data in information and vision in terms of business models.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Collaborate with Pricing, Marketing, and Merchant teams to identify new metrics and build out robust reporting that will drive insights that lead to customer experience improvements
  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining and presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our users interact with our core/business products
  • Test design: Build statistical measurement capabilities to measure incremental impact of new experiences on a wide variety of outcomes
  • Design and evaluate experiments monitoring key metrics, understanding root cause of changes in metrics
  • Building and analyzing dashboards and reports
  • Evaluating and identifying metrics
  • Identify levers to help move key metrics
  • Create robust and easy-to-understand data visualizations to quickly show senior business leaders key problem areas, new opportunities, and emerging trends
  • Understand customer behaviors, and long-term trends to improve the overall customer experience

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Accredited bachelor's degree in computer science, accounting, finance, statistics, mathematics, or business administration required; equivalent work experience may be considered as a substitution.
  • 5+ years' experience conducting quantitative analysis
  • Proficient database and querying skills including SQL
  • Proficient utilizing a Object Oriented Programming Language for building/testing/optimizing data science models (R, Python, etc.)
  • Ability to work with big data and its query tools, or a proven track record of success with tools across a variety of similar infrastructures
  • Expert ability in creating data visualizations (using PowerBI or similar tools) that convey key metrics in an easy-to-understand format for non-technical business decision-makers
