The Distribution Center Operations Manager is to plan, direct and coordinate the daily operations of the Distribution Center. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies. Coordinate and monitor the work of various departments involved in, warehousing and distribution of goods. Monitor performance and implement improvements. Manage quality and quantity of employee productivity. Manage maintenance ofequipment and machinery. Provide technical support where necessary. Accountable for the P& L oversight and responsibility within the operation, i.e. payroll (reg/OT), misc. expenses, etc. Prepares and maintains necessary reports, policies, procedures and activities, including spreadsheets, training and personnel records. Directly responsible for staff planning and performance management execution (training, and equipment certification).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

General:

  • Ensure the operations is meeting the Key Performance Indicators and required customer service levels, based on the daily/monthly scheduled forecast
  • Ensure the creation and execution of the Shift Plan and collaboratively work with other areas as needed to create and synchronize the Daily Plan to support business objectives.
  • Provide a positive and engaging working environment focusing on the safety, quality, operational excellence, and DC metrics which include Housekeeping and 5S standards that are incorporated into the Standard Work and into daily processes.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the departments DC processes and functions. Identify key variables that influence the workflow process and develop and implement departmental changes as needed to drive continuous improvement and enhance workflow optimization.
  • Maintain rapport and relationship with all internal partners, i.e. Sourcing, Buying and Planning)
  • Ensure compliance with safety and required policies and procedures
  • Oversee accuracy of all put-away of in-bound shipments, damages/shortages and discrepancies.
  • Recommend equipment needs and repairs; maintain appropriate safety records and procedures
  • Responsible for inventory accuracy maintain 97% or higher
  • Ensure warehouse cleanliness and organization
  • Provide training on processes and procedures
  • Communicate business plans and departmental goals and objectives daily/weekly/monthly
  • Implements the business plan for assigned area of responsibility by communicating goals and managing staffing and scheduling, assigning duties and coordinating workloads in order to achieve facility goals.
  • Identifies associate, and supplier concerns by listening and consulting with others when needed to determine corrective action to take or make recommendations in order to resolve concerns.
  • Monitors and manages productivity of assigned area of responsibility by preparing, reviewing and analyzing business reports.
  • Maintains quality and safety standards in assigned area of responsibility by ensuring associates are trained on logistics and company policies, standards, and procedures; monitoring associate compliance with logistics and company policies, standards, and procedures; distributing and maintaining procedures and supporting documentation.
  • Supervises and develops associates and leaders in assigned area of responsibility by assigning duties and coordinating workloads, monitoring performance and providing feedback; identifying training and development needs; and participating in the hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, and evaluation of associates and leaders.
  • Manages the maintenance and installation of systems hardware and software by overseeing the installation of new, replacement, or additional systems; ensuring that the necessary repairs are completed on existing systems; and tracking inventory and ordering system components as needed.
  • Manages the troubleshooting of systems applications by working on systems problem resolution with Information Systems Division and vendors; and supporting the continuing development of current and future systems applications.
  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others in the application of information and best practices; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
  • Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders; identifying business needs; determining and carrying out necessary processes and practices; monitoring progress and results; recognizing and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities.
  • Models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by incorporating these into the development and implementation of business plans; using the Open-Door Policy; and demonstrating and assisting others with how to apply these in executing business processes and practices.

  • Must have excellent problem solving, organizational, interpersonal and motivational skills.
  • Ability to improve processes and procedures.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent with 3-7 years or more of related experience as an individual contributor; Bachelor’s degree plus two or more years of experience supervising production personnel (ideally in Distribution) preferred
  • Intermediate level experienced with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook and ERP Desired
  • Valid Driver’s license preferred
  • Computer proficiency: Working knowledge of computer programs
  • Understanding of general work practices in warehousing and distribution, including receiving, order processing, order picking, packing, loading, and shipping processes and procedures
  • Dedicated to business and allow flexibility with work hours if necessary

Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Performing tasks using a computer and telephone daily
  • Repetitive processing steps.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee/customer’s information.
  • Always willing to adapt to change and keep an open mind to training
  • Consistent regular scheduled attendance is considered an essential function of this job.
