Purpose & Scope:

Under supervision of the Engineering Technical Services Manager performs design and development tasks for mechanical and fluid power products. Creates basic engineering documentation required to define company product and change existing engineering documentation. Conducts thorough drawing & design reviews as designated by Engineering Technical Services Manager.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare basic 3D design concepts and 2D layout drawings using CAD systems to show proper arrangements and design intent for company products.
  • Prepare basic detail drawings using CAD systems and proper Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) to define design requirements for production.
  • Review detail drawings created on CAD systems for conformance to applicable layouts and for accuracy, completeness, clarity and formatting.
  • Perform thorough engineering review of routine product maintenance revision packages, including drawing changes and Document Change Notices (DCN) for accuracy, completeness, clarity and formatting.
  • Prepare complete assembly and installation drawings for customer submittal as directed by the Design Department Supervisor.
  • Assist the Checker of an assigned project by performing basic dimensional stackup analyses of assemblies and components to ensure proper fit, form, and function.
  • Performs CAD system management tasks as assigned by the Design Department Supervisor.
  • Check 3D models for compliance to drawings or customer requirements
  • Prepare new detail drawings as required


Required Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Work experience or specific secondary school coursework in drafting, design, CAD, CAD/CAM
  • Mechanical aptitude displayed through personal hobbies/projects
  • Demonstrated ability to model parts within a given CAD software
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.


Preferred Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Familiarity with metal forming, machining and manufacturing practices
  • Experience with mechanical inspection
  • Post-secondary drafting, design, CAD, CAD/CAM coursework
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) practices


Must be able and willing to work extra time as required to ensure completion of all assigned projects
