Design Engineering Intern

Are you an engineering college student looking for a new challenge and an exciting opportunity to advance your knowledge, skills and career in a great working environment? We are looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic engineering student to join our Engineering and Product Development dream team for the summer to help us drive Operational Excellence and gain critical job skills in the process!

THE ROLE

  • Follow Comar design documentation work instructions and Change Control SOP’s to update and maintain product specification documents such as part and assembly drawings, packaging drawings, product specification forms, etc.
  • Utilize IDworks 6 Phase Gate Process to design and organize, plan and deliver high quality, fully integrated end-to-end solutions that meet customer expectations and deliver promised results.
  • Support the development of user needs, product and system requirements, risk management evaluations, verification and validation documentation deliverables, and manufacturing technical outputs.
  • Develop and maintain clear, concise, well written design history documentation including testing protocols and reports, drawings, specifications, and procedures
  • Follow IDworks process to create and deliver new products.
  • Conduct research and development activities to methodically identify and address issues, driving to the end goal of creating a new product
  • Prepare and present design reviews to clients and stakeholders including renderings, graphic presentations, and part details.
  • Responsible for project intellectual property (IP) including creating invention disclosures, supporting patent application/prosecution, and providing technical feedback to legal regarding other IP matters.


WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program from a four-year College or University in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic knowledge ins CAD design software, SolidWorks, and Autocad preferred.
  • Strong computer skills

Preferred:
  • Experience in molded plastic part design and understanding of mold and tooling design.
  • Experience in drawing interpretation and GD&T
  • Experience with computer simulation tools (FEA and Mold Flow Analysis)
  • Experience with ERP systems such as DELMIAWorks (formally IQMS), Oracle, SAP or Microsoft Dynamics
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems such as Siemens Teamcenter
  • Experience in design of rigid plastic packaging
