RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiate, coordinate, and design projects and calculations
  • Coordinate every project design phase
  • Research, plan, design, and administer engineering and design on design-build projects, applying knowledge of design, construction procedures, and industry standard
  • Function as the prime contact coordinating the resolution of design & engineering problems, reviewing progress, recommending alternatives, and advising on project objectives
  • Review and supervise proposed revisions to technical design standards and ordinances
  • Develop or evaluate plans/criteria or special analyses required in support of the design effort
  • Provide consulting expertise within an area of specialization
  • Review drawings and designer submittals for accuracy
  • Ensure construction plans, plans, and specifications conform to all applicable standards and requirements
  • Prepare and monitor design budget and schedules
  • May conduct special studies or analysis of major importance requiring a staff of specialists or highly experienced engineers
  • Interface with bidding and construction team and coordinate with construction approach
  • Plan, coordinate, direct, and supervise the work of a group of engineers or architects in the design and construction of heavy civil projects
  • Ensure design meets project standards and agreed upon specifications and time frames, and permit and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical engineering guidance and input on key projects throughout the conceptual, preliminary, and final design & construction phases
  • Participate in meetings with owners, partners, and subs
  • Review and supervise proposed revisions to technical design standards and ordinances
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Maintain and manage design schedule
  • Maintain and manage design budget
  • Produce monthly design progress report
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Civil Engineering
  • 8+ years of related work experience
  • PE preferred
  • Design Build experience (contractor or designer side)
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings
  • Knowledge of means and methods and construction techniques
  • Knowledge of construction industry, trends, innovation, etc.
  • On-site and field experience on civil projects will be appreciated
  • Knowledge and experience with Scheduling software (i.e. Microsoft Project and/or P-6), Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated aptitude to understand engineering projects
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering
  • Organizational ability - able to plan, prioritize, organize, and monitor activities and projects
  • Ability to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve goals, ask for inputs by valuing others' ideas and expertise, and support & act in accordance with final decisions, even when such decisions may not entirely reflect own position
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships & partnerships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and construction partners
  • Ability to raise topics that needs to be discussed with team or required a company decision
  • Ability to identify project risks
  • Prioritize work load and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands
  • Ability to work with other engineers and estimators and be part of a team
