As a member of our highly collaborative multidisciplinary Ship Design team, located in Newport News, VA. You will be responsible for producing detail ship design products and drawings for ship construction and modification, using requirements documents, ship specifications, standards and regulatory body requirements as defined in the requirements section below forNaval, Coast Guard, Commercial ships.

Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing accurate and detailed designs, free form surface models and/or drawings based on concept sketches, photographs, or clearly stated functional requirements or appearances.
  • Working closely with our clients, naval architects and engineers to produce high quality, detail ship design products and drawings.
  • Must be willing to relocate
Candidate / Position Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be Eligible to Obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Associates Degree or 2 Years of relevant experience in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
  • 1(+) Years of experience translating specification requirements and incorporating standards, requirements, design practices and techniques into detailed ship design, drawings and other finished design products such as piping, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, electrical, structural, mechanical and/or electronics systems.
  • Knowledge of standards and regulatory body requirements is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of drafting methods, procedures and techniques.
  • Experience in drafting methods, procedures and techniques.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using CAD software and systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 2-D CAD and manual drafting techniques and standards.
  • Must be able to work some overtime as required.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint Skills Required.
  • Excellent Oral, Written and Presentation Skills.
  • Strong Time Management and Organization Skills as an Independent Contributor.
  • Demonstrated Interpersonal Skills as a member of a Collaborative multidisciplinary team.
