Job Summary

The job provides professional support of assigned development activities with instruction from others. Executes fundraising projects, cultivation programs for prospective donors and for visiting committees.

Responsibilities

  • The Development Coordinator conducts a variety of essential projects to support the MBSD Principal Gifts team, and responsible for implementing tactical next steps to ensure goals and objectives are met.
  • They, along with the Associate Director for Trustee and Volunteer Engagement, will play a central role in staffing the Principal Gifts Committee of the UCMC Board of Trustees.This includes preparation for Committee meetings, interfacing with Relationship Managers regarding prospect strategy, and tracking the timely implementation of deliverables and next steps.
  • Closely monitors team activity and anticipates and tracks deliverables, including letters, briefings, reports, presentations, and proposals.
  • Drafts acknowledgements, special greetings, and letters for cultivation purposes, and coordinates recognition and stewardship with the Donor Relations team.
  • Composes and edits correspondence and other documents for delivery internally (e.g., MBSD, UCM) and externally (e.g., correspondence for leaders and volunteers within the primary strategic constituencies).
  • Partner closely with the Chief of Staff on critical Principal Gift functions such as setting the agenda for bi-weekly strategy sessions, assigning newly discovered prospects, organizing quarterly reviews of the Principal Gifts portfolio and tracking PG solicitations.
  • Tracks the progress and process of acknowledgement letters to ensure timely and accurate acknowledgement.
  • Collaborate directly with the Principal Gifts team to coordinate logistics for donor visits, cultivation visits, and solicitations with the offices of the UCM CEO/Dean, and Medical Leaders.
  • Has a moderate/solid understanding of fundraising operations for a school or department of the University. Identifies budget requirements and staffing needs on a project or event basis.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with donors and volunteers. Establishes and maintains donor records and accounts.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience:
  • A minimum of two years of professional work experience in nonprofit management, development, alumni relations, marketing, public relations, sales or similar professional work experience.
  • Experience with fundraising, contact management or other database software.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience planning and executing events.
