Position Purpose:
Overall accountabilities include product design and development of rotary wheel hub and foundation brake systems for class-8 vehicles.
Essential Functions:
1. Assist Project Manager on specific product design and development initiatives regarding class-8 wheel end and brake systems.
2. Design products using Creo, creating models with fundamental soundness in engineering. Detail drawings utilizing GD&T standards.
3. Coordinate FEA with Engineering Analysts and use results to make appropriate design decisions.
4. Oversee laboratory and field evaluation of wheel-end and brake products.
5. Assist Project Manager in creation and continuous improvement of best practices for wheel end and brake systems.
6. Create or assist in creating necessary engineering documentation to support the SPPD process, including FMEAs, tolerance stack ups, DVP, etc.
7. Identify and develop cost reduction opportunities.

Education and Training:
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Aeronautical Engineering required.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 1-5 years experience in automotive, class-8 vehicle, heavy equipment or agricultural industry product design
• Demonstrated experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is a plus
• Experience in design and drafting using 3D CAD software, Creo experience is a plus
• Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up
• FEA experience with ANSYS or Workbench is a plus
• Strong metallurgical background including experience with grey/ductile iron, aluminum castings and steel forgings is a plus
• Strong working knowledge of casting, hot forging, austempering processes is a plus
• Demonstrated experience with test and evaluation methodology for hub and wheel end system development is a plus
• Demonstrated experience with quality system for industrial hub system production and assembly is a plus
• Knowledge of precision machining processes including turning, boring, milling
Physical Demands:
• Frequent sitting, work at computer for extended periods of time.
• Infrequent lifting of metal parts over 30 lbs
• Mobility to inspect/work on components underneath a trailer (squatting, kneeling, twisting, pulling)
• Ability to use precision tools and gages
Environmental Conditions:
• Frequent sitting, work at computer for extended periods of time.
• Exposure to R&D lab and manufacturing setting.

• Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and written
• Excellent documentation and organizational skills
• Hands on, familiarity and working knowledge of general mechanical systems
• Strong analytical and technical problem-solving ability
• Able to plan, prioritize and manage workload with independence
• Self-motivated, fast paced working environment
