We're seeking a Development Gift Officer to join our team! You'll contribute to Albertina Kerr Center (AKC) and Albertina Kerr Centers Foundation (AKCF) fundraising efforts by cultivating, soliciting, securing, and stewarding major, planned, special and annual gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations with a focus on individuals. You'll promote our culture of philanthropy and support general development efforts, including events when needed.

As part of the development team, you'll advance our mission and support an organization wide culture of philanthropy through alignment of efforts to priorities, curiosity, and commitment to learning, accountability, candid respectful communication, transparency of action, demonstration of best effort.

Essential Duties

  • Employ moves management strategies to advance relationships with a portfolio of individuals, corporate and foundation donor prospects
  • Secure $1,000,000- $2,000,000 in donations annually
  • Develop solicitation materials
  • Prepare gift agreements
  • Work collaboratively with organization staff and leaders, development team members, governing and foundation board members, as appropriate, in understanding organizational priorities, and cultivation, solicitation and stewardship efforts
  • Take leadership for Development team activities in areas assigned by Chief Development Officer
  • Support strong data management of constituent records
  • Support strong information management of shared materials
  • Prioritize professional learning to build skills around best and promising practices
  • Work closely with development and marketing teams to incorporate giving opportunity and event content into communications

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • At least five years of non-profit development experience with demonstrated track record of major gift solicitation success
  • Experience with donor portfolio management preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal (including public speaking) and interpersonal communications skills with the ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds
  • Possess independent and mature judgment and demonstrate effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • A team player, willing to jump in when needed and support work of development team colleagues
  • Ability to be entrepreneurial in nature: self-starter; action- and results-oriented
  • Ability to organize time effectively, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and manage many tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and donor databases
  • Sufficient physical dexterity to retrieve, manipulate, insert documents into or retrieve documents from files stored in standard filing cabinets, with or without reasonable accommodation
