Ohio States Facilities Design and Construction (FDC) oversees campus design, construction, and renovation projects; technical support services; and building design standards. FDC provides an unmatched customer experience by delivering the design and construction of projects grounded in integrity, knowledge, passion, and accountability.We deliver high quality projects to create positive experiences through the built environment.

FDC staff includes four project delivery teams: Medical Center and Health Sciences, Academic and Administration, Auxiliaries and Regionals, as well as Engineering and Infrastructure. These teams provide support services to campus, medical center, academic and regional campuses, auxiliary buildings as well as site work and support. They play a critical role in leading projects in (FDC) for the larger organization Facilities Operations and Development (FOD).
The Director of Projects we are hiring for is responsible to manage Project Services Delivery team with specific responsibility for the delivery of campus athletic, student life, business advancement and OSU's Lima, Mansfield, Marion, and Newark campus facility capital projects, as well as overall coordination with other design and construction projects.

The Director will:

· Work closely with the individual department leadership teams, including Planning and Real Estate, in support of capital project implementation.

·Serve as a technical advisor to the auxiliary departments on project delivery.

·Hire, train, and supervise project managers and construction managers.

·Partner with the planning team, departments and stakeholders to develop appropriate scopes of work and associated budgets.

·Assign and prioritize work.

· Assist with office budgets and staff management.

· Recommend project implementation strategies.

·Ensure project managers and team is in compliance with policy, procedures and initiatives.

· Coordinate team staffing and process oversight from planning hand off to project closure.

·Oversee initial scoping and shortlisting / interviewing of A/Es and construction professionals.

·Assist in final negotiation of various contracts such as Design-Build, CM at Risk, General Contracting.

·Maintain strong relationships with customers and provides clear, consistent communications to customers, department and university leadership, and divisions within FOD.

·Assure compliance with applicable construction policies, procedures, laws, codes and standards. Ensure consistent contract negotiations for all contracts (leases, professional services and purchase agreements).

·Report to the Senior Director of Design and Construction (FDC).

REQUIRED: Bachelors Degree in architecture, engineering, construction admin, or related field; technical expertise in design & construction; demonstrated strong decision-making, leadership, staff management, conflict resolution, communication, and delegation skills; ability to work autonomously; ability & experience in reading & interpreting architectural & engineering drawings; experience with standard software (spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, databases); valid driver's license; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively w/ multiple constituencies toward a deliverable within a noted timeline; 10+ years experience directly applicable to project management and/or construction admin.

DESIRED: Registered Architect or Licensed PE in the State of Ohio; experience w/ computer-aided drafting/design; experience working in higher education, or other large public institutions; Technical expertise in planning, design, and construction of athletic, student life, and academic facilities.

Additional Information:

Target Salary Range: $146,000-$195,000
