The Department of Student Affairs - Financial Operations has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Director, Budget to work in the Coral Gables campus.

General Description of Responsibilities:

This position in coordination with the Assistant Vice President, Student Affairs - Budget & Personnel will coordinate the strategic planning, development, and administration of the annual budget planning process for the Division of Student Affairs. Position will require the ability to clearly communicate and present information regarding the financial operating activity and impact to upper-level administration throughout the Division and University.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Budgetary and Financial

  • Assist in the coordination of the strategic planning, development, and administration of the annual budget for the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Sets budgetary planning, month-end financial projections, and variance reporting deadlines for the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Assist with the review of annual budget requests/allocations to ensure they meet approved allocations and Divisional strategic objectives.
  • Assist in the oversight and input of budgetary data into Tidemark budgeting system.
  • Ability to provide analytical evaluation of overall financial operations to make recommendations and adjustments based on financial needs.
  • Proven ability to develop financial modeling scenarios to support decision making.
  • Monitors and assists with monthly and quarterly revenue and expense projections.
  • Ability to concisely provide financial narratives addressing underlying cause of financial variance.
  • Present monthly and quarterly budget updates to the Vice President and Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs and make assessments as to the overall status of the divisional budget.
  • Develops audit processes for ensuring that units are adhering to approved financial parameters and internal financial controls.
  • Forms close working relationships with all unit department heads to address strategic and critical budgetary needs.
  • Assist with the coordination of year-end closing processes for all departments and ensure all accounts are in compliance by closing deadlines.
  • Assist with the coordination and review of all Student Health Insurance premium payments in coordination with Student Health Service and their Manager, Business Operations.
  • Remain current on all University financial processes and systems and disseminate new information to the staff.
  • Ability to create financial trainings and onboarding for all new staff in both financial and non-financial roles.
  • Prepare and submit various Workday business process entries as needed.
  • Maintain highest level of Workday Finance and Tidemark expertise.
  • Ensure Division is following generally accepted policies and procedures from Controller's Office.
  • Assist in the review and vetting of all business plans for capital and non-capital projects.
  • Prepare various reports as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 8 years of fiscal management or related experience required.


EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field. CPA, Master's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to influence and collaborate with others in the performance of the job.
  • Strong organizational skills - ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to establish goals and objectives that support the financial operating plan.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Advanced Skills in Excel and formulas; including VLOOKUP.
