Overview

The Director of College Parnterships is the primary relationship owner between our collegiate institution partners and our omni-channel portfolio of consumer brands. The position's primary responsibility is to manage college partnerships that drive revenue for our partners and ourselves by leveraging our unique portfolio of consumer brands and our significant and predominantly owned supply chain. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day business relationship with our institution and agency partners, providing management oversight for the use of partner intellectual property, negotiation and management of licensing agreements, college brand partnership strategy development and execution, calendarized engagements with partners (business, line, marketing reviews), and cross-functional coordination with Sales, Marketing, Product Line Management, Finance, Legal and the office and resources of the Chief Sustainability Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with institution and agency partners in college.
  • Form and foster relationships with licensing directors, athletics directors, auxiliary services management, financial management and other relevant college campus decision makers.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions of licensing and business partnership agreements and effectively communicate obligations of those agreements across internal functions for fulfilment.
  • Make presentations to current or prospective partners with ability to effectively communicate company capabilities, consumer and brand segmentation, marketing plans, business performance and financial concepts.
  • Ensure company stays grounded in our respective partner college brands and their objectives and identifies revenue growth opportunities for partnerships.
  • Work closely with internal partners such as sales, product line management and marketing to develop and communicate plans to external partners.
  • Work closely with internal teammates to understand and communicate to partners, market dynamics, sales trends (POS) and retail performance.
  • Manage personnel and process associated with compliance to agreements and activities such as royalty reporting and intellectual property usage approvals.
  • Timely and effective communication internally and externally, including approval of agreements, budgets and financial commitments.
  • Participate as a key member of college market strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field (advanced degree is a plus), along with a proven track record of success
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of prior work experience, with at least five (5) years of experience in licensing, collegiate administration/athletics management/business, sales, business development or sports marketing.
  • Ability to form strong relationships and effectively influence, through excellent internal and external communication skills, across functions and levels of management.
  • Demonstrated successful experience with varying business models, deal structures and incentives.
  • Analytical with ability to drive decisions based on data.
  • High-energy, active approach and ability to operate at pace internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a diverse scope of projects requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment.
  • Direct experience and relationships in collegiate athletics, athletics administration or college business and financial services is a plus.
