As the Director of Banquets, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our banquet operations, from planning and execution to team management and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the sales/catering and operations department of the hotel to ensure a successful event for the clients and all of the client's needs are met and communicated accurately and efficiently to all departments of the hotel.
  • Work closely with each groups meeting planner regarding groups menu planning, agenda setting, hotel meeting services, hospitality amenities and special VIP request.
  • Obtain all menu details, meeting room setups, refreshment break needs, postings, and any other additional needs of the client to ensure a successful event at the property.
  • Communicate and enforce contractual agreements pertaining to meeting space, food and beverage, and special concessions.
  • Responsible for the review of all bills that are sent to the client. In reviewing bills, they should be accurate and timely in order to maximize return business. Responsible for the follow up to make sure any meeting reward point has been posted.
  • Create detailed event orders to meet the specifications of both the client and Hotel.
  • Assist in development, design, and implementation of custom menus.
  • Maintain proper documentation of events, changes and special requests with updated Event Orders, group resumes and rooming lists.
  • Provide accurate and concise information to all departments.
  • Communicate event details to staff, including food and beverage needs, audio visual requirements, function room set-up, billing, recreation, activities, décor, and etc.
  • Effectively up-sell products and services throughout the pre-event planning phase to maximize profitability and achieve quarterly goal
  • Assist in executing the expectations of the client.
  • Handle any challenges or concerns immediately.
  • Participate in weekly operations meetings to communicate the upcoming group's needs.
  • Communicate and uphold a departmental vision that is aligned with the Resort Manifesto
  • Create an atmosphere of ongoing training and development, with continuous coaching
  • Address violations of policy or service issues, swiftly and in accordance with resort corrective action standards; provide additional training, corrective action, commendation and/or promotion as necessary
  • Maintain a working environment where all colleagues feel comfortable addressing their concerns; foster a respect for and follow the appropriate chain of command in addressing issues
  • Attend leadership team meetings and other meetings as required
  • Participate in resort team building activities and industry events as required
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in banquets and event management, preferably in a leadership role
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
  • In-depth knowledge of banquet operations and industry trends
  • Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
