Job Description

GPI is seeking a Director of Construction Services in our Western New York Branch. In this role, the individual will direct and manage all construction services in our WNY Branch, including staff recruitment, oversight of field staff and operations, project administration, business development, and participation in proposal writing and fee estimates. Our Western New York Branch primarily serves State, County, and municipal clients throughout NYSDOT Regions 4, 5, and 6, including Locally Administered Federal Aid (LAFA) and locally funded projects, as well as various public Authorities. This position plays a crucial role in branch leadership. It will provide the individual with an excellent opportunity to grow the department and practice a wide range of professional skills working closely with clients, inspection staff, and Branch leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a point of contact and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Recruit, hire, and manage inspection staff
  • Review project documents to establish scope, staffing needs, and fees for inspection services
  • Negotiate agreements and fees with clients
  • Manage construction inspection operations
  • Provide support for inspection staff
  • Assist with development of department goals and budget
  • Assist in the development of new clients
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' experience working in the construction inspection industry with preference given to transportation (road and bridge) projects utilizing NYSDOT specifications
  • NY Professional Engineering License (preferred)
  • Experience working on NYSDOT and LAFA projects (preferred)

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
