Overview
The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day operations of the distribution facility, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. The role requires outstanding organizational, communication, and leadership skills and an ability to develop innovative solutions that push boundaries. The Director of Operations will work closely with the VP of the branch to strategize and develop long-term plans that usher in new levels of productivity and success for both the branch and GBB.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements long-term strategic operations plans to achieve company goals and initiatives that will deliver share and profitability growth.
  • Prepare and control the operating budget for the assigned facility along with capital expenditure requirements.
  • Able to identify areas of opportunity, innovate solutions, implement them, and drive buy-in for improved KPIs.
  • Establishes metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated.
  • Establishes initiatives that drive year over year improvement, as well as streamlines and optimizes day-to-day operations.
  • Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.
  • Oversees transportation and distribution department, ensuring each is reaching goals set by departmental and company leadership.
  • Contributes to the development of new tools, processes and technology which make teams more efficient, effective, and safe.
  • Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.
  • A steward of company culture, promoting and embracing business practices, philosophies, and strategy.
  • Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.
  • Ensures compliance standards with Federal, State, and local regulations governing the warehouse and transportation departments are met.
  • Ensures work environments are adequate and safe.
  • Participates in the hiring and training of departmental managers.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and coaching of direct reports as needed and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Business Management, plus ten years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Operations Management.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in wholesale or operational management or other related industries.
  • Able to work collaboratively across functions and gather multiple points of view into a streamlined action plan, driving results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with complex operational processes and performance improvement projects with lean or six sigma experience.
  • Experience managing others including career development, directing, and evaluating work.
  • Analytical ability necessary to gather and interpret data to further develop, recommend, and implement solutions.
  • Technologically savvy, collaborative, confident leader, utilizing Microsoft Office products to analyze and articulate opportunities.
  • Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
