The Opportunity

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Procedural and Ancillary services, the Director of Sterile Processing is responsible the ongoing development and management of sterile processing for the MGBMG which includes (but not limited to) the Medical Group ASC, Endoscopy centers, procedural areas, ambulatory practices, and broader ancillary needs. This role will be responsible for developing policies, systems, and procedures as well as maintaining the fiscal control, planning, directing and supervision of all activities and staff related to the decontamination, reprocessing, and sterilization of inventoried items including but not limited to surgical instrumentation, disposables, and other equipment. The Director of Sterile Processing will provide oversight of all quality initiatives and will partner with MGBMG Infection Control. This position is responsible for the implementation of a comprehensive departmental strategy including the planning, organizing, directing, and supervision of all activities and staff related to the decontamination, reprocessing, sterilization, procurement, and delivery of sterile products at MGBMG sites. Drawing upon operational principles, industry standards, and regulations, and in conjunction with policies and procedures, this position provides senior management with specific recommendations that improve patient safety, optimize the use of departmental resources, and improve the quality of service offered. The Director of Sterile Processing will provide management for specific recommendations as to the design, equipping, and staffing models associated with the Sterile Processing departments within the MGBMG.

The Vision

This is a hybrid role based out of the Mass General Brigham Corporate Headquarters (Somerville, MA) , with the expectation for routine onsite presence at our Tuscan Village (Salem, NH), Merrimack Valley, and North Shore locations - potential for more sites as the Medical Group evolves. The standard schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's degree in related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of progressive health care management experience required, with at least 4 years' experience in an SPD setting.
  • CST Certification required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to effectively collaborate with clinicians and support staff.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications and personal computers
  • Exemplary analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Analytical abilities necessary to organize, supervise, and evaluate the work of others.
  • Ability to manage frequent stress due to critical issues, changing organizational climate, and personnel issues.
