The Director, Technical Program Management, Core Systems, would be responsible for building and leading a world-class team of Technical Program Managers, partnering in establishing strategy and direction, leading from the front in partnership with cross-functional roles such as Product Management and Engineering, and blazing the path for the next-generation Infrastructure and Platform as a Service for Facebook's internal cloud development. These are the underlying systems that power all of Meta's family of products (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Oculus).You will lead a team that has end-to-end ownership of critical initiatives, working to deliver a developer experience that seamlessly integrates complex systems at scale without the operational burden of mastering lower-level component systems.The ideal candidate will have the deep technical and program management expertise needed to provide support to a high performing team that is working to drive results across multiple complex, large scale initiatives. They will be an inspirational leader that can win trust and establish alignment with a multidisciplinary array of cross-functional partners, and leverage this trust to exert influence across all phases of the product development lifecycle. They will have demonstrated experience building, mentoring and nurturing technical program management or engineering teams of 50 or more, operating at scale in a highly transformative environment. They will be an innovative, intellectually curious problem solver who does not need to have the "correct" answer to everything but, rather, is able to quickly steer the conversation toward a productive programmatic solution by building and driving consensus. Their key customers will be the Data Center team, the Capacity Engineering & Analysis team, and the thousands of engineers and PMs that make up all of Facebook's product teams.

Director, Technical Program Management, Core Systems Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a world-class team of TPM's capable of improving and scaling Facebook's internal cloud development during a period of massive growth and scale, while forging tight partnerships with managers and engineers across our Core Systems and Capacity engineering teams as well as key Product Groups.
  • Be part of the Infrastructure Core Systems Leadership team (alongside engineering, product, design, analytics, and cross-functional leaders) responsible for defining the future of how internal developers experience and use our internal cloud services, thereby improving performance and scale of all Facebook's family of products (i.e., Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Oculus).
  • Demonstrate an ability to structure an organization and optimize it for execution, including attracting top tier talent and filing out gaps in the existing team quickly to accommodate growth.
  • Able to lead from the front, prioritize, and drive the bigger mission forward by translating vision into results.
  • Manage, mentor and grow the existing technical program management teams, able to manage as well as performance manage those who need more help.
  • Measure and improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes that are working well and build the next level of improvements, set standards for deployments at scale, infrastructure reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Partner with all technical functions across the company to ensure all organizations are in sync.
  • Build and lead an organization with customer focus, world-class quality, and effective communication with a focus on decisive, fast-moving solutions, quick and constructive resolutions to conflicts, and a "no barriers" mentality.
  • Serve as an evangelist for the team and overall culture, both internally and externally.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
  • 15+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience.
  • Experience either in an established consumer application, cloud computing or mid-sized growth stage company.
  • Experience communicating the details behind program architectures, including how and why they were run, and the systems put in place to run them.
  • Knowledge in technical program management methodologies, experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery.
  • Experience moving technical or engineering programs from concept to completion and experience articulating the impact using metrics, growth examples, return.
  • Experience with Cloud computing, large-scale infra leveraging technologies such as Java, Python, Shell, C, C++, etc.
  • Experience with scale, production with emphasis on Reliability, Efficiency, Scalability.
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems software engineering.
